A professor at Utah Valley State College named Ron Hammond has quit using textbooks in his classes and curriculum. Because he doesn’t agree with what’s written in the pages? Nope.
Because they’re too expensive.
It’s about time teachers understood how much those stupid college text books really cost. I remember paying $80 for a math book I used in one class, and even then barely used. Not to mention, the prices for books has probably gone up since I’ve been out of college for a few years. I’m going back to college this year so with the price of everything else going up, this year is going to hurt!
“I think it’s immoral because of the cost of it,” Hammond told the Central Utah Daily Herald.
So instead of using the overprices, unnecessary textbooks, Ron Hammond assigns journal articles and other reading materials that students can obtain from the library or download online.
If all professors did the Ron Hammond method, would save students (on average) $900 a year, according to the Consumerist. Now that’s something worth learning about!

My Dad would love this Palin Pumpkin, seeing that he is deeply Republican. Me? I vote on whoever can make the best Barack O’Lantern, or Leg-Obama. When I see works of art in their finest, it moves me to vote!
I think the one thing that would make this Palin Pumpkin complete would be to stick a voicebox in there and have it replay all of Tina Fey’s “Saturday Night Live” comedy skits. Or better yet, just use Sarah Palin’s speeches, they will end up sounding the same anyways…

This sounds like it would be a story out of “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” but I haven’t seen it yet.
This man had gotten a piercing across the bridge of his nose, and had a piercing mounted set of eyeglasses attached. The open minded may say “What a genius?”, those that cringe at the thought of a needle might not think the same way. Either way, you’ve got to admit, this is one unique “invention” of sorts.
Looking at him with the glasses on though, you’d never notice until he took them off and there were two pieces attatched to his nose!

People get more creative everyday! I was so impressed by the Leg-Obama, but this one’s a little bit more appropriate for the Halloween season, and of course with the Election season coming to an end soon.
Can you just imagine taking the kids Trick or Treating and seeing this on someone’s front doorstep?
Can’t wait to listen to the TV and/or radio without listening to a political advertisement. Yeah, I’ll admit I was a little into it this Election year, but now I’m just tired of hearing it!
“I should have seen that one coming…”
NO REALLY?
Brings new meaning to the words “bird infestation”
It’s A Smiley Saturday!

Theme: Gasoline

Gas prices have gone down a bit recently, maybe we should buy moving pods and stock up on cheap gas before the prices go up again.
