Weight Loss Phone Counseling

Posted by Jorge on Nov 24, 2008 in General, Health, News

The University of Florida recently did a research and found results that show that “Telephone counseling may be just as successful as face-to-face counseling in helping people maintain weight loss”

This sounds a lot easier than trying the latest and greatest diet pills such as Ephedrasil Hardcore, which the name itself doesn’t make it sound so fun either.

234 obese women between the ages of 50 and 75 years old whom lived in rural areas in northern Florida were studied. They finished a 6 month weight loss program and the women lost an average of 22 pounds.

One year later some of the women were counseled over the phone and the rest were counseled face to face. Results showed that the women counseled over the phone regained less than 2.5 pounds average weight. The women who were counseled in person regained an average of 8 pounds.

AOQILI Diet Soap is a made from the elixirs of undersea plants. It can be used with sensitive and and the healing and fat burning assets of seaweed has existed for over 400 years in the East. The Wii Fit Thinks Your Fat

Posted by Jorge on Sep 15, 2008 in Games, General, Health

A 10-year-old girl from South East England played Wii’s newest exercise game, “Wii Fit” and was told by the game, during its BMI (Body Mass Index) test, that she was “fat.”

The Wii Fit actually puts users into a variety of categories during the BMI test, the two heaviest categories are “overweight” and “obese.”

The girls father says, “She is a perfectly healthy, 4-feet-9-inch-tall 10-year-old who swims, dances, and weighs only six stone. She is solidly built but not fat. She was devastated to be called fat and we had to work hard to convince her she isn’t.”

Tam Fry for the National Obesity Forum suggested a ban of kids playing the game, “”I am absolutely aghast that children are being told they are fat. A child’s BMI can change every month and it is perfectly possible for a child to be stocky, yet still very fit. I would be very concerned if children were using this game and I believe it should carry a warning for parents.”

So there’s a revolution to ban a game that tries to promote physical fitness, but nobody sees anything wrong with the game that robs people of their cars and kills people and all of these possibly dangerous weight loss pills they can get at the local supermarket and online?

You can buy the WiiFit for $130.35

The 6 Worst Jobs For Your Health

Posted by Jorge on Aug 27, 2008 in General, Health, Linked
  1. Truck Drivers – Because of hazardous highway conditions and sleep deprivation can lead to depression in truck drivers.
  2. Healthcare Workers – They are in stressful and hazardous positions everyday on the job, and can suffer sleep deprivation from long shifts.
  3. Waiters/Waitresses – They risk developing backaches and repetitive stress injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome from spending hours on their feet and carrying heavy trays loaded. From a mental factor, they almost everyday deal with rude and demanding costumers.
  4. Police Officers – They deal with dangerous situations everyday on the job. They also witness death and suffering from accidents and criminal behavior, which leads to post-traumatic stress.
  5. Desk Junkies – Office workers are prone to arthritis, carpel tunnel, and the restricted bloodflow to your legs after long periods of sitting down can cause blood clots.
  6. Garbage Collectors – They are outside in all types of weather, and they face rigorous physical demands and high risks of falling.

What about President of the United States, Race car drivers or Celebrities? We all know what we want to do to President Bush, and don’t get me started with race car drivers, (they could use some car insurance online) and surely being a stuck-up snobby celebrity has got to go under the “mental health” category!

Your Lotion Can Give You Skin Cancer

Posted by Jorge on Aug 21, 2008 in General, Health, News

Cute little hairless mice, right?

Actually they are cute, little hairless skin cancer mice.

Rutgers University researchers have found a possible link between lotions and getting skin cancer.

They tested four brands of moisturizer: Dermavan, Eucerin, Vanicream, and Dermabase. The researchers exposed hairless mice to UV rays, then tested some mice without the lotion and then with it. The lotions made the mice more likely to develop “non-melanoma skin cancer.”

HOLY JORGE! I use Eucerin…does that mean my huevo’s are going to look like hairless mice?

Leptitrex: The Latest Famous Diet Pill

Posted by Jorge on Aug 12, 2008 in General, Health, Linked

Leptitrex is another new fat burner aka diet pill out on the market.

It claims to be an all-natural fat loss supplement that focuses on the hunger, vitamins & minerals, fat loss, body and liver detox, superfoods, and anti-aging benefits.

It is more of a “lifestyle” diet supplement that you take not to lose weight and maintain a healthy body. It supplies you with essential nutrients that the body lacks.

I have not tried this one yet, Lord knows I’ve tried a lot of diet pills out there, but this might be my next experiment.

Ditch the Diet

Posted by Jorge on Mar 25, 2008 in General, Health, Linked

Last January I started dieting and eating really healthy: salads, fruits, & veggies. I drank a ton of Diet Pop for the caffeine factor in place of my daily energy drink. And of course, I exercised anywhere from 3 to 4 days a week.

I didn’t see any results.

Did you know that drinking a lot of Diet Pop can actually interfere with how to lose weight? I used to drink almost 4 cans of Diet Pop a day until I read this little bit of research.

Finally, with a combination of SlimQuick, drinking my reccommended 8 glasses of water a day, eating under a certain amount of calories a day, and of course ditching the Diet Pop all together.

As of weigh in a few days ago, I have lost seven pounds.

THE REASON: Artificial sweetener’s in Diet Soda’s interfere with your body’s ability to count how many calories you are taking in, so you in turn eat more. Not that regular soda is any better, but if you are someone that drinks gallons upon gallons on Diet soda’s a day like I used to, you might want to cut down on your intake for a few weeks and see what happens with your body.

Let me know how it goes…

Cleansing of the Soul.

Posted by Jorge on Feb 25, 2008 in Health, Linked

My father had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago. I wanted to ask him exactly what it was, but I sat back and thought about the word…colonoscopy…and I didn’t want to know at that point.

But then my indecisive self decided to change my mind and do some research. So for all you other curious minds to save you the time of doing research yourself. Colon cleanse is necessary because everything you eat ends up in your bowels as toxins. Sounds scary, huh? Well to make it worse, those toxins build up and it could possibly cause diseases such as diarrhea and being overweight. When your “clogged up” you can’t function properly.

Hhhhhmmmmm….I’m starting to think I need a colon cleanse! MY diet was horrible up until this New Year when I started trying to watch what I eat. Research says some of the symptoms is sluggishness and some digestive problems. (Bad information to share I know!) But there are some methods out there to help out. There is OxyPowder, a large abundant of fiber can be added to your diet, like a fiber shake. Some even use it in aiding to loose weight which convinces me to try it just for that fact and now knowing about the symptoms.

New Style, New Beginnings

Posted by Jorge on Feb 15, 2008 in Health, Linked, Shopping

Feb. 14th

For those of you that have not talked to me in a while, I am still diligently going to the gym to workout. I haven’t seen a drastic change yet, and I don’t really expect too. My personal trainer actually told me to not even bother stepping on a scale for 6 months, although like my diet, I have cheated on that a few times and sneaked a peek at the scale.

One thing that I definitely cannot wait to do is change up my wardrobe and get flattering, gorgeous clothes again. I especially want some of those Baby Phat Jeans. (Since this blog is not audio inclined….I am screaming like a teenage schoolgirl right now over how cute these jeans really are! *jumpspin*) I have to keep to my New Year’s Resolutions though and make sure that I do not go on any major shopping sprees.

While I am on a fashion faze, I got my hair cut yesterday evening. So if anyone wants to buy me those cute jeans to match my cute new haircut, you are more than welcome too! *giggle*
