Body Lost On the Way to Guatemala

Posted by Jorge on Sep 13, 2008 in General, News, Travel

AP reports that Miguel Olaya attempted to send his deceased wife’s body to their native country of Ecuador through American Airlines, to which the airlines supposedly misplaced the body for four days.

He hired the DeRiso Funeral Home in Brooklyn to ship his wife’s body to Guayaquil, Ecuador, on April 1. When he went to the airport to claim the body, it was nowhere to be found. Olaya also claims the body was decomposed because it wasn’t properly embalmed.

American Airlines initially gave a different story:

“First they didn’t know where her body was. Then they said maybe it was in Miami and finally they said it was in Guatemala,” the lawyer said. “Instead of sending it on the flight to Guayaquil, American sent the body to Guatemala City.”

The funeral director at the funeral said the mistake was made by someone at the airline who put in the wrong airport code. The airlines could have input GUA for Guatemala instead of GYE for Guayaquil.

Branson Vacation Getaways

Posted by Jorge on Aug 31, 2008 in General, Linked, Travel

Are you ready for a vacation? Who isn’t? Even if your a silent, boring, “about to lose your mind office worker like me ready to shoot themselves in the head from the boredom at work can be mind sucking.

How about considering a Branson, Missouri vacation for your next one? I know I need a vacation, so if anyone is willing to send me on one…I am ready.

They offer numerous vacation packages: Platinum Package includes 3 days, 2 nights with 2 tickets to the Grand Jubilee show, $30 Red Lobster/Olive Garden Gift Card, Coupon Book with $1,500 worth of savings, $50 Tanger Outlet Shopping Certificate for $457 per couple.

Red Lobster and Olive Garden are one of my favorite restaurants, so they have me sold there! There’s also Gold and Silver Packages, and so many more if you didn’t want to splurge so much on your vacation.

If you don’t want a package, there are a million and one attractions and sites to explore; after all, they do call Branson the Live Entertainment Capital of the World. Does this mean that Branson has tons of strip clubs? Who knows? I will let you know when I get there. Either way, who doesn’t enjoy a little entertainment once in a while?

Everything’s there to take care of your needs from shopping, lodging, entertainment and dining. My last vacation was in Gatlinburg, TN and Branson sounds a lot like Gatlinburg, so I might grab up the hubby and take a little vacation getaway for our anniversary.

Travelling Costs an Arm and A Leg

Posted by Jorge on Jun 22, 2008 in General, Linked, News, Travel

The airline industry is having a tough year, a few buisnesses have already filed bankrupcy including the once promising, Skybus. The airline companies have to make up for the costs somehow, which is where, us…the consumer comes in.

Just this year, American Airlines is now charging for carrying extra luggage on a flight with you. Let’s just hope that they do not charge by weight. Wouldn’t you just love to get caught for carrying a Rimowa?
